Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. I've got an even better one: I license my stories under a creative commons license, and publish them on a wiki, in the hopes that when someone comes along with a good idea on how to improve it, they will!

So I created a page on the wiki called Twelve: (Steve Chastain Remix). If you create a login, you can edit it, chop it down, add to it, or change it in any way. In the spirit of collaboration, I'd seriously love to see more people do this with my stories, but so far, no one's taken me up on it. (Any other takers out there)?

Neal - Just read "Twelve". I really, really love stories that mess around with the idea of memory - Memento, Eternal Sunshine, Minority Report, etc - fascinating. I have not read much science fiction - I'll have to put "The City and the Stars" on my list of things to read someday. Any other recommendations in that vein? Great job with the story. Can I offer a suggestion? I think you should delete or greatly shorten the last couple paragraphs of 11:01. I had figured it out before that, and it seems more ominous to not make what's happening totally explicit. That was my complaint with Minority Report and Vanilla Sky - they completely spell everything out, nothing left for the audience to figure out. I like being left guessing a little. Ambiguity is good. For what it's worth.
