My New Alma Mater

January 9th, 2007 by Neal Locke

In the car on the way home from church, as my wife is listening to Car Talk on National Public Radio…
Grady: Mommy…is that N-P-R?
Amy: Yes, Grady.
Grady: NPR is Daddy’s college.
Amy: No, Daddy’s college is O-R-U.
Grady: No. It’s not.
Amy: No? Where did Daddy go to college, then?
[long pause]
Grady: Daddy’s college is C-3P0!

Nice, Grady. I want to go to C3PO too. (LOL) Maybe for graduate school I’ll go to Tatooine… no wait, is that the same as UTEP?

How does one delete a comment here, and what is pinging?

Since I use wordpress (not blogger), to edit a comment you’d have to “register” as a member of my blog (I think there’s a link to do that on the front page), and then comment while logged in. Of course, the easy way is to just leave a comment saying “delete that last comment, and this one too.” Or something like that. Then I’ll do it.

I like blogger, and I used to use it, but it’s not open source. My philosophy is that wherever there is an open-source alternative that works for any software application I use, I switch.

Oh, and pinging is just basically a way of saying, “I think this post, or comment (or whatever you’re “pinging”) is so cool technorati (or weblogs.com, or some other blog directory site) should know about it. Your blog, for example, is probably set by default to ping weblogs.com anytime you make a post (but usually not for comments).
