$300 Websites

For the past 14 years, I’ve designed and set up many websites for friends, churches, small businesses and individuals — often for free, sometimes for pay. Now that I’m back in school, a secondary source of income seems like a good idea, and while I’ve done some work for large organizations for large pay, I think I most prefer working with smaller organizations — keeping both my workload and my prices low for everyone.  So if you’re looking for something top of the line, and you’re willing to pay for high quality, I’d recommend this friend or this friend (both are entirely worth it). However, if you don’t have a large budget but still want a solid, well-designed, custom website, I can help you.  I charge a flat fee of $300 for each of the following types of service:

New Website – $300
I especially enjoy working with individuals or organizations who have never had, or currently do not have, any web presence.  For the not-too-tech-savvy, I can patiently walk you through the whole process, helping you identify what kind of website you need.  This includes all of the following:

  • An initial consultation via telephone, email, or chat (your preference)
  • Help registering a domain name and choosing/setting up web hosting service**
  • Website creation and setup using Wordpress (the same software that powers this site and thousands of others)
  • A customized theme design for your website
  • Walk-through training and instructions for using your site

Upgrade Website – $300
If you already have a website, but it needs a fresh look or more robust capabilities, I can preserve what you have while bringing it into the 21st century.  Includes all of the following:

  • An initial consultation via telephone, email, or chat (your preference)
  • Complete evaluation/assessment of your current website’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Migration of all existing website data to wordpress software and (if necessary) to new hosting service**
  • A new customized theme design for your website, using existing color schemes and logos (or we can come up with new ones)
  • Walk-through training and instructions for using your site

Other Services – $300
There’s a lot of buzz these days about social networking sites, blogs, podcasts, wikis, e-commerce, and web2.0 applications in general.  I’m a fan of all these things and can help you incorporate them into your “web-presence.”  If it all sounds like technical gibberish, that’s ok too — I can also explain what they are and how they might be useful to you.  This includes any one of the following:

  • Set up and customize a wiki or a bulletin board system to enable your website users to work and communicate collaboratively on projects and goals
  • Set up and customize a system for you to sell products or recieve donations online via paypal or other e-commerce application
  • Help integrating Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Apps and other social media into your website/web presence
  • Set up and customization of a podcast, blog, or video blog to share media content with your website user

Service & Support
For all three categories above, I’ll provide 30 days of email/phone support (although keep in mind that if I’m in class, I’ll call you back as soon as I get out), a walk-through (via phone or chat) and written instructions (via email) to help you get the most use out of what we’ve created.  Even after the 30 days are up, an occasional call or email if you’re stuck with something is fine.

Payment
I accept  payment using Paypal for all services — half up front (immediately following the initial consultation) and half when it’s all done.  Once you’ve provided me with an email address, I’ll send a paypal electronic invoice which you can pay with a credit card.  Alternatively, if you need to pay with a check we can arrange that as well.

**Web hosting and domain registration are separate, ongoing expenses incurred by almost all websites.   Fortunately, these days neither one is very expensive.  I can provide both services to you for $7/month, or alternately I can help you navigate the thousands of independent services to find one that is reliable, inexpensive, and best suited to your needs.
